Creating a warm and inviting dining area doesn’t have to be complex or difficult. Here’s how we created a dining room that is simple, elegant, and perfect for celebrations, dinner parties, and the occasional stay-at-home date night.
Choose Your Colors
The first step we took in creating this room was choosing our color palette. Here, we combined white with greys to bring a level of elegance to the space. We started with a dining set and matching console that have charming farmhouse styling and a distressed, cement-grey finish for an updated look that’s rooted in tradition. We then added two upholstered chairs on either end of the table to soften the look of the room and keep it from feeling cold. Under the table, we incorporated a rug in contemporary shades of white, cream, and warm greys in a traditional botanical ogee pattern.
Light it Up
Lighting is a crucial element for any space. In this room, we chose vintage floor lamps and table lamps to brighten up the space with the warm glow of Edison bulbs. The dark, brushed metal base brings a hint of shine to the look for an added touch of class.
Add in Accessories
After adding in our major pieces, we layered in accessories to enhance the look of the room. We added some plants throughout the room to bring the room to life an add a splash of color. We also added in a white horse sculpture with a distressed finish that ties into the distressing on the dining set. We also added a large piece of horse wall art above the console that continues with the equine theme and the color palette of whites, creams, and browns.
By choosing a color scheme, adding stylish lighting, and layering in accessories that fit with the look of the room, it’s simple to create a dining room that is elegant and inviting.
