Jim Moon Biography

Jim Moon Biography

Jim Moon, Whisper River Photography, Gilbert Arizona. Growing up and living in the Western United States for most of his life, has had a strong western influence on professional photographer, Jim Moon. He comes from a long line of cowboys and spent his summers, working on a large ranch in Wyoming. He moved to Arizona at eighteen years of age, and started working in the corporate world soon after.ûIn the late 1990s, Moon was primarily shooting architectural photography as small part of his corporate work, his background for that was five years of formal film photography training. He stopped shooting photography, just as it was transforming over to digital, working in the corporate world had his taken his full attention. û2007 became a year of change for Jim, after surviving his 1st of what would go on to be 8 heart attacks, his wife decided he needed a stress relieving hobby and bought him a new digital camera, and shortly thereafter, he went on a storm chase, capturing exquisite desert flash flood waterfall images, that reignited his passion for photography and changed his direction in life. Moon, has gone on to become a international, award winning professional photographer. Moons viewpoint, What we perceive to be beautiful or interesting is based on our current state of mind, often influences his depiction of Western Landscapes, Cityscapes, along with iconic Route 66-style images. He is know for spectacular richly colorful fine art photographic images, produced on canvas, that range in style from the Marine Layered Cityscapes of San Francisco, to the Silence of Monument Valley, as well as action-filled rodeo and cowboy shots. In addition to being the official photographer for the South West Bronc Riders Association, Moon has the distinction unique of being the first and only photographer in the U.S., to have his fine art photography on canvas, featured for sale, in the Thomas Kinkade Galleries. He was recently invited to speak in March, 2016, at the new Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum, in Scottsdale, AZ., regarding the stories behind his Western photography. ûCurrently you can also find some of his work at jimmoon.photoshelter.com. His website is in the process of being upgraded and when the new site is released, we will update you.û
