Cheryl grew up in western Kansas and has always had a natural curiosity and love of nature. She also has a natural talent for drawing and was mostly self-taught. When she was introduced to acrylic painting in 2007 she spent 4 years painting under the instruction of Dale Peterson of Greeley CO. Her painting Mountain Retreat, won first place and the people's choice award at the Wyoming State Fair in 2014. She now lives in southern Wyoming on a small farm with her husband Curt and their dogs, Toby and Chloe. "There's simplicity in living close to nature that is so fulfilling. In my art I try to express that - through the beauty of a lone cottonwood or a freshly cut hay field. The birds and animals that surround us, are there to call us to pause and truly see". Cheryl has a wide range of interests and does commissioned paintings. Portraits, farmsteads, animals; anything you'd like to honor in a beautiful and lasting way.
