Welcome to 2017! If you've decided that this is the year to switch up the color scheme for your home but don't know where to start, why not start with the 2017 Pantone® Color of the Year? The Pantone Color Institute™, the "world-renowned authority on color," has declared Greenery, a "fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring," the color of the year for 2017. According to Leatrice Eisemen, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™, "Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose."

We sat down with Judy LaMontagne, one of the buyers here at AFW, for her thoughts on the color. She believes that greenery is "a fresh color that everyone relates to because it speaks to nature." As a component of interior design, she states that "green is easy to work with and blend with other colors," adding that it fits with other trending colors and works as a "fresh complement to teal."

While it might play well with other hues, such a powerful color might leave some puzzled as to how to incorporate it into their homes—especially if you aren't ready to commit to living with an all-green living room. LaMontagne's advice? Use greenery as an accent color in the form of a pillow, accent chair, or rug. Accent pieces like these provide the opportunity to add a fresh pop of color while avoiding the risk that comes with painting a room.
