Our story began before AFW even had a name. In 1968, founder Jake Jabs took his first big step into the furniture world by opening Mediterranean Galleries, a high-end furniture store with locations in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Billings, Montana. Jake closed the Galleries, but it wasn’t long before he found the opportunity that would shape his future.

In 1975, Jake purchased the 90-year-old American Furniture Company in Denver. With just one store at 58th and Bannock, he introduced new marketing ideas and a fresh business philosophy—including the new name, American Furniture Warehouse. That bold move set the foundation for what AFW is today.

Since then, we’ve grown to 18 locations across Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. Still family-owned and operated, AFW has become one of the top retail furniture companies in the U.S., known for unbeatable prices, massive in-stock selection, and fast delivery—you can buy today and take it home today.
