Mary J. Welty Biography
In 2013, Cowgirl Mary J. Welty relocated her personal art gallery from Truth of Consequences, NM to Evergreen, CO and is in a Chalet building around the corner from the historic downtown district. The gallery is open daily from 12-5 or by appointment for other hours.
The gallery houses an eclectic collection of original paintings in mostly oil and acrylic. You will find impressionism, comtemporary, to realsim and much more when visting. Also a variety of wire sculptures using some recycled materials. Always new and unusual things for gift giving. From miniature paintings to mural size pieces. Mary is a self taught, lifetime artist that enjoys creating multimedia art in all sizes, all styles and can paint from your ideas to her sketches to your painting. Commission work is welcome.
Mary competes yearly in the Federal Duck Stamp Competition where she has placed as close as 5th. Many years her art has traveled with the top 20 or has come in the top 20 percent of the show. This is the most prestigious art competition in the country, the best of the best wildlife artists compete to be the next stamp winner ( your license to hunt ducks and geese). A collection of 27 framed ducks for sale in the gallery. Three years her art was used to sponsor print art in Colorado Duck Unlimited program. Signed, limited edition prints from this project are in her gallery.
Mary has lived in Colorado since 1971 with the exception of about 5 years painting in New Mexico & Arizona. For around 25 years she lived and worked on a cattle ranch north of the Black Forest in Colorado. Horses and art have been her passion for a lifetime. Her first piece of art sold when she was in 8th grade, her first horse when she was 14.
